Deep reflection on the values of contemporary diplomacy

An exceptional meeting with Mr. Jean-Jacques de Dardel,

former Swiss Ambassador to China

We had the immense honor of welcoming Mr. Jean-Jacques de Dardel, former Swiss Ambassador to China, to an inspiring meeting organized as part of our summer program.

A prominent figure in Swiss diplomacy and a key player in the dialogue between Switzerland and China, Mr. de Dardel shared with our students his profound reflections on the values of contemporary diplomacy: intercultural communication, international cooperation, the art of negotiation, and the development of globally-minded leadership.

Through his exceptional career, he has conveyed a vision marked by wisdom and humanism. He reminded us that:

« True diplomacy is about understanding others while remaining true to oneself; it is about building bridges, but also sowing trust. »

The participants listened attentively, asking numerous questions and engaging in direct discussion with the diplomat on current issues in international relations. This special opportunity allowed our young people to understand diplomacy not only as an institutional practice, but also as an art of dialogue and mutual trust.
